Dr. Steven Horwitz is a legend in the chiropractic and sports rehabilitation world. A Cornell University graduate who then went on to pursue another bachelors at National University of Health Sciences before obtaining his doctorate degree in Chiropractic in 1986, Dr. Horwitz has been in private practice in both Maryland and Texas for over 30 years. He has dedicated his life to the pursuit of helping people be active and finding the cause of athletes’ imbalances and correcting them. When injuries present, there are few who match Dr. Horwitz’s knowledge and skillset to address such. He is the owner of Dallas Sports Academy.
Dr. Horwitz is trained in most everything sports rehabilitation related. This includes dry needling, the Graston technique, ART, Kinesiotape, FMS, and a whole lot more. He is a BLS and First Aid Instructor, Stop the Bleed Instructor, and works as a Designated Doctor for the Texas Department of Insurance. Dr. Horwitz holds a RKC Kettlebell Certification and is a CGFI Medical Professional. He has a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine, is a US Track and Field Level 1 Coach and Certified USA Weightlifting Club Coach.
Related to his primary field of study, he is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (certified by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association [NSCA]).
Dr. Horwitz has a long list of professional appointments, including being a member of the Momsteam.com Panel of Experts. He was also a member of the Maryland State Athletic Trainers Advisory Committee, the Maryland State Director for the NSCA, and a member of the Maryland State Advisory Council on Physical Fitness, while he practiced in Maryland. Dr. Horwitz was also the Jr. Pan American Track and Field Championship team chiropractor in Havana, Cuba (1997), and most impressively, he was United States Olympic Team Chiropractor in 1996 for the Atlanta, GA XXVI Olympiad.
Dr. Horwitz is an expert in the field of brain injury and traumatology. He has a tremendous amount of public speaking experience. Most recently, he presented an abstract titled ‘Reported Causes of Death During Youth Sports Participation’ at PRiSM. He has also written about ‘Return to Learn (RTL) and Return to Sports (RTS) Protocols for Young Athletes and Our Proposed Coordinated Return Protocol’, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine (blog post). He also contributed to the Zartman and Weil publication ‘#HeySportsParents! An Essential Guide for any Parent with a Child in Sports.

Finally, Dr. Horwitz is very much involved in community service. He works with the Jordan McNair Foundation on the Sports Medicine Advisory Board and was a volunteer with the Adaptive Training Foundation along with being a volunteer and coach with the Endeavor Games. He was also a volunteer performance coach with the Texas Regional Paralympic Sports Games.
Dr. Horwitz brings his tremendous experience, love for helping youth, and everything that makes up every cell of his being to DBAM.
