Dr. Manison has been a gym enthusiast since he was 16 years old.  He was diagnosed as an insulin dependent diabetic at age 8 and this forever shaped his life.  He studies health, fitness, and nutrition with a passion.  It’s not only his job, it’s his life!

Dr. Manison studies people and how they move.  You don’t want to go to the beach with him.  He’s content sitting there evaluating each person for ankle, knee, hip, low back, shoulder, and more…dysfunction by gait analysis.  He enjoys these assessments but boy, it’s really annoying if you are with him.  Best to keep this study on the field or in the office environment!  😎

He loves not only treating injuries but also working to figure out what is/was causing them.  After all, it’s easy to treat pain/inflammation/dysfunction, but how do we keep it from coming back?  This is especially important when dealing with youth athletes.  Injuries that are not properly addressed when young will manifest to far greater problems later in life.  Injuries must be fixed as early as possible…period!

The DBAM team is a hand-picked group of specialists with a vast amount of knowledge and experience working with an active community of both adults and youth.  We know there is a lack of good information available regarding youth sports, injuries, nutrition, conditioning, etc…  Our job is to fill that void by getting needed information out, on a variety of platforms, to parents and their youth athletes.  Working in an office 1:1 with patients is wonderful.  What’s even better is getting out needed information to the masses.

So, here we are!  Don’t Be a Meathead! (DBAM). This site and social media platforms give the DBAM team the ability to educate on the topics of how to best optimize the way people move, eat, train, condition, avoid injury, and so much more.  Of course, we’ll make it fun!  After all, nobody likes boring, spongy professors.  We’re bring the information and energy.  Your part is easy…just be healthy and active and let’s keep you and the youth athletes functioning at an optimal level.

We will try to convey useful information for the casual person to the healthcare provider.  Let DBAM be your one source for everything fitness and health related.

If you have a question, come here and let us help you.  If you would like to see a blog written on a particular topic of interest to you, please feel free to drop us a line.  We eat, live, sleep, and everything else this stuff!
